I am a fine art and documentary photographer, and I'm currently at a stage in my personal development where I'm trying to combine the two elements into a single art form. This image is an example of this where shape, form and shades create just as much of the image as the actual content. Whilst a large amount documentary and street photography these days focuses purely on realism and the content of the images, I personally feel that there is still room for artistic merit and aesthetic value. This particular image uses the dark shades of the old buildings as a frame around the new illuminated building 'The Shard'. I also included the silhouette of the tree as a frame over the top of the image as a juxtaposition of nature over the modern architecture.
